Night Surveillance

If the area is new or not mapped or in a remote area we have full Satellite based GPS systems that will work anywhere and provide proper land coordinates.  Installation on any vehicle can be done in cases of people who are married, common law or where a person has a financial interest in the vehicle. This is essentially one person permission. Installation takes about 30 seconds.

Surveillance is still one of the most productive methods in investigations but with GPS tracking the time spent on surveillance is extremely accurate and losing a vehicle is just about impossible. The clients that have used this service are very happy in that the budget expended is very productive and the results are without any doubt.

Edmonton Private Investigators has GPS or Global Positioning Systems tracking capabilities for tracking vehicles anywhere in North America and if necessary anywhere in the world. Our systems can be placed on a vehicle for 7 to 28 days under self-contained batteries or the vehicle can be hard wired with the GPS and it is good for an unlimited period of time. This can also be done in cold weather but it does make the battery life shorter. Once installed on a vehicle any movement will be noticed and the activities at a particular location can then be checked. If the person is in a restaurant or bar we have hidden cameras and can record the activities.

Our systems have been used in a variety of terrain and locations, including Calgary, Red Deer, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, Slave Lake as well as the Canmore, Banff, Golden, B.C. areas with no problems whatsoever. The GPS picked up the satellites necessary for tracking even in the Rocky Mountains and Rogers Pass area. By using GPS tracking the surveillance is pinpoint precise as the systems will pinpoint locations to within twenty feet and show this on a street map.

Insurance, Workers Compensation Surveillance

Surveillance is best described as "the art of observing without the subject of the observation having knowledge of the scrutiny". This is easy to say but at times extremely challenging to accomplish with a satisfactory result.

On a daily basis we do surveillance using a variety of vehicles, as well as high powered video cameras for both day and night operations. Conducting surveillance at odd times during the evening and weekends is one of the reasons we have been successful in insurance injury claims.

Blending in with the local landscape, keeping a low profile, and having a keen awareness of neighbors are all-important parts of any surveillance operations. Having a full size car and being the only occupant when out on operations will most certainly arouse suspicion. Using a truck or a smaller car will usually alleviate suspicion especially if the vehicle is not too clean.

At times, in order not to raise suspicion, an investigator in Edmonton will be forced to let the subject go and try picking them up later or even the next day. Spending a short time period in a neighborhood is a much better technique than spending an entire day.  This technique is very useful in workers compensation investigations.

All of this knowledge was necessary when conducting surveillance in Cuba over a seven-day period. Surveillance is the same no matter where you are or who the subject is but in Cuba this was particularly challenging. The operating conditions were fraught with government people, police, military and locals who watched every city block of the area in which our investigator was working.  After seven days of intensive work, our investigator was able to get all the video needed and get back to Calgary. Any mistakes made during that investigation would have had extremely dire consequences.  Mazatlan Mexico was very challenging though not as lethal as what Cuba was.  In Mazatlan the operations were in a gated community with a lot of security, razor wire and steel shutters on windows.  To stay in the area we had to look at houses for sale and after two days we were able to get the video required and return home.   The video in this matter was done with a hidden camera which we have all the time as well as night vision 4K cameras which is shown in the video clips.
